Dirt Road's 1997 Wrangler TJ Dirt Road's 1997 Wrangler TJ Dirt Road's 1997 Wrangler TJ

Dirt Road's 1997 Wrangler TJ

Our TJ was purchased as bare as possible for a reason:   We want to improve everything!

We ordered the 4-cyl SE with automatic tranny and rear seat - and that's all. For a list of modifications we've made to this point, click here.

Dirt Road's 1997 Wrangler TJ Mods

We'd only had the TJ three days when these two pictures were taken, and had already felt the need to make some "adjustments".

We painted the chrome headlight rings flat-black, removed the plastic bumper-corners altogether, and added the first of three tow-hooks. As you can see, it almost gives it a CJ look.

(Click here for a better view of the modifications.)

Rob Oakley's 1997 TJ

Rob Oakley's 1997 TJ

Here's a shot of Rob's Wrangler Sport on the Rubicon.

Some work he's done to get it trail ready:
• American Racing wheels with 33"x12.50 BFG AT's
• 4" Trail Master lift
• Dana 44 rear with a Detroit locker & 4:10 gears
• Dana 30 in front with an ARB
• DX 9000 Winch.

The transfer case has 4:1 gears. Tunes are provided by a Pioneer CD, 100 watt amp, and JBL speakers with a Sub-Woofer.

It's been in Moab and done all the 4X trails, and on the several trails in the Sierras, including the Rubicon, and walked the Little Sluice.

It hasn't let him down yet, and the ride is great on the road and the trail. (And it will do a hundred through the desert!)

weekend before, it was impossible to cross this spot.

Brad Silverberg's 1998 Jeep TJ Sport

Brad Silverberg's 1998 Jeep TJ Sport

"It's basically a stock 6-cyl 5-speed TJ with some mods to make it more trailworthy, including BFG MT 31x10.50's on Mickey Thompson Classic 15x8 wheels, Currie rear bumper and rocker guards, Teraflex sway bar disconnects and steering box skid plate. I added a Pioneer DEH-45DH and Polk Audio speakers for nicer sound. The TJ has dual tops: hardtop to stay warm and dry in the winter and soft top to let the sun in during the summer."

You can check it out in more detail at his web page.
