Nick Pumphrey's 1988 Cherokee Sport
"My fiance and I are the proud owners of a 1988 XJ-door sport. It had 170,000 miles on it when we bought it in the
late part of summer 99. We have since put 30,000 more miles on our XJ and it keeps ticking like a Timex. It features a
custom made grill guard and headlight wrap arounds which I made myself, factory skid plate protection underneath, a class
IV hitch which hasn't been used for towing in our case as much as it has been for freeing stuck vehicles, a factory swing
away spare tire carrier, 2" Teraflex Coil spring spacers up front with sway bar disconnects, and a 3" full length
add-a-leaves in the rear. Smoothing the ride out is 4 Skyjacker Softride Hydros, and a Skyjacker Nitro steering stabalizer.
It also has a 5-spd manual tansmission, and two 100 watt KC Daylighters mounted on the pushbar. Inside features air
conditioning, cruise control, Kenwood CD player, Radio Shack 40 channel CB, and remote mirrors. As for tires and wheels, we
are running progressive 15x8.5" rims with 31x12.50x15 TSL Thornbirds. Turning the Thornbirds are stock dana 30 front and
dana 35 rear with 3.08 gears, thats where the manual 5-spd is really handy.""Future upgrades include a Surco safari rack,
EZ-locker front, Detroit locker rear, 4.11 gears, 3-inches more lift, and 33's."
