The PowerAid Throttle Body Spacer
By Jason
Throttle Body spacers seem to be mentioned on almost every BBS I visit. "Do they work?" "I love mine!" "Mine stinks!" It
seems that any two posts are never in agreement. I set out to find the scoop on them,
by installing the PowerAid TBS for the 4.0L in X-treme.
The kit comes complete with all that is needed to put it on, including new gaskets,
bolts, spacers for the linkage bracket, and, of course, the "Power Plate".
How does it work? Evergreen Performance (Manufacturer of the "PowerAid") explains that the rifled grooves (helix bore) on the inside of the power plate increases the efficiency of the inducted air.
We recently tested the PowerAid Throttle Body Spacer on our 4-cylinder TJ, a
6-cylinder TJ, and our 6-cylinder XJ with
similar results. The installation show below is on Project '94 X-treme.
Since Poweraid does not offer a TJ 2.5L kit, a minor modification was necessary to use the 4.0L kit on
our TJ. Click here for more information.

When tested on my neighborhood streets it seems to boost HP noticeably, and low end torque a little.
Whoever thought this one up knew a little something about cheap and easy power! The added power is noticeable through
all ranges of the RPM band, on- and off-road. It's an excellent compliment to the 2.5L or 4.0L engine, and adds well
to other power-enhancing add-ons.
