Icom IC-T8A: 6 Meters/2 Meters/440 MHz
Icom's T8A has been an absolute joy to use. This compact unit fits very well into your hand, and intuitive control fuctions make it a breeze to operate in a very short time.

This version also receives WFM broadcasts (including some TV) and Airband. Inclusion of Ni-MH battery is a definite bonus, and allows typical output of 2.5W with an average battery life of 4 hours.

Other features include band/memory/full scan, automatic or manual setting for backlight and squelch, 123 memories (with 10 scan edges and 1 call for each band!), 5-watts of power on all bands (@ 13.5V DC), MIL SPEC tough, water resistant (to JIS 4 standards), and built-in "Help" function.

Our Impression

Extremely portable. Auto-detects input voltage (displayed at startup). Easy to use, and built to last. Overall a very tight HT that is perfect for keeping in touch during long days on the trail.
